Hello hello everyone :)
I'm a software developer [mostly web technologies], but I've always had a love for photos. Photos and roller-coasters... holy crap I love a good coaster. I had an old SLR camera back in high school, and I did black and white photography, but once I hit university I put aside the SLR and used a point and click digital for events and such.
2009
In mid 2009 I picked up a DSLR and my hobby really took off. A few friends of mine and myself do weekly "assignments", which really just consist of us finding a topic online [there are many sites out there that list faux assignments], shoot our ideas and then post our favorites on flickr. Post processing not allowed here, we want to work on our basics.
There is also a small group of us at work that enjoy photography, so every month we go out to a location and shoot in the same area. We then post on flickr, however, we allow post processing for these photots, so I've been learning how to do basic things with applications like the Gimp and PS.
