An artist and cartoonist in his youth, Shawn began sketching and rendering by pencil the world around him. Joining the Canadian Forces in 1998 as an Imaging Technician, his art took a new form. Introduced to the camera, Shawn spent the next 20 years travelling the world and capturing the stories of soldiers, sailors and airmen as they unfolded before his lens. Progressing through the ranks he eventually became the Public Affairs Branch Chief Warrant Officer. He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2022. Today he is Deputy Chief, Security Systems Management with Parliamentary Protective Services (PPS) at Parliament Hill, Canada. Still an avid photographer, he can frequently be found with his family at interesting events or locations searching for new light to put in a box.
