79 years old and a retired engineer.

My life has had large parts abroad, travelling or staying (I spent a number of years in the USA and later in Japan).

Travel has probably boosted my photographic activity, although film photography was already a dear hobby when I was 10 years old, with one of my teachers showing me how to process films and make contact prints.

I have gone all the way from film cameras (a toy at first, then a Bencini Comet, then a Retina Reflex, later a Leicaflex, then an M4 and an M6 in my bag) to digital photography and back to film with my cumbersome but excellent Mamiya C330.

And more recently I have added to my tools a Mamiya RZ67 Pro.

And still more recently a Bronica EC-TL.

The return to film photography (and the choice of a 120-roll camera) is simply the result of seeing the wonderful movie about Vivian Mayer some years ago.

I have had to learn the darkroom skills again, not practiced during 45 years ; I deeply enjoy it, processing my b&w films at home and making prints in a club laboratory nearby. My greatest pleasure is in trying out processes that add character to the prints, I tinker with lith and toning.

I do very little shooting in colors, there is very little in it to excite me. I prefer to enjoy the color shots of others.

On this site and as "shashinka50" I publish only analog photos.
