Sharlene's photos are brilliant and beautiful! Her portraits and performance pix really make me miss the Bay Area I once knew. They offer me a window into the world in which I was reared as a photographer; whether looking through the eyes of an artist, a documentarian, or an activist. Equally important to the way she sees the world, she has somehow discovered the key to being compensated for all of her diligent, dedicated, and passionate work. This, for me, is still a mystery, a challenge to overcome. Yet this recognition and exchange of value is the currency that will provide the fuel that will enable us to continue to do what we love to do, to be active and uncompromising with creating an authentic version of a lesser known history. Sharlene inspires and promotes the notion that Life Is Art. And that we are not victims of "reality"... rather reality is what we create and share with one another.
