Since I began studying art at college, I have always been drawn to Liverpool's maritime legacy. I love artifacts, and objects that have a clear sense of wear and tear, time and history. The colours of the rusts and patina that has built up over the years, in my opinion, only adds to the character and beauty of the subject matter. Trace and vestige interests me a great deal also, that is why even after 29 years of photographing the docks, they remain my biggest source of inspiration as there is always something uniquely different and vibrant to observe and enjoy.
