I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. When I was a toddler, my mother let me use the Kodak Brownie. She was a single mother and didn't know how to change the film, so she told me to go to the drugstore and the clerk would do it for me. I left the exposed roll at the drugstore and came home with a new roll in the camera.

I bought my first SLR in the 1970's, but it has always been a hobby, not a serious endeavor. Now that I am retired, I will be able to spend a little more time with it. I am finding that I really need a class or someone with more experience to spend some time teaching me more.

I do have a photo in both the Schmap Paris Guide and the Schmap San Francisco Guide.

After a year of not taking any pictures at all, I purchased a Nikon D40 in December 2006 and I am back in the program.

My last name is Dutch. My father was born and buried in Rotterdam.
