Photography is an invitation to 'seize the moment' and an allegory for the kind of life that has the patience to wait for an opportunity, the eye to see one, and the courage to take it. It makes me mindful and helps me to be fully present.
I have used 35mm film for most of my life, obsessively at times, just trying to capture the moment and not using any post-processing, so what the camera saw is the final piece. There is always an element of guesswork in setting the exposure and taking the shot but at some point, you have to commit to releasing the shutter and letting the light in for better or worse.
I want to push myself to learn and grow to take better pictures. I have a collection of analog gear. I am also finally dabbling in digital, using older equipment that can be bought cheaply but is still capable of capturing great images. Both types of cameras have pros and cons, so I am not a diehard purist about anything. My drug of choice would probably be handheld and low-light shooting in black and white at 50mm (or roughly equivalent). Since I discovered I can use some of my old lenses on a DSLR and an ILCE and set the cameras up to behave like a 35mm manual shooter (without the cost of developing), I am taking photos every day.

I just love that paragraph about seizing the day in your profile! Very well said, and it's true too. Good job putting into words what I myself love about film photography :D
