I am a Mum of 3 (all grown up) and have7grandchildren. I am fairly new to quilting (started in 2009), although have made the odd thing in the past. Interested in most hand crafts, but using a needle (of any kind) is the best.

I live in England, brought up in Essex, lived in Kent while our children were small, moved to South Africa returned in 2000. Lived in Cumbria for a couple of years, then moved to the midlands in 2003. Most of our moves have been work related, but that's life.

My son and daughter-in-law live in Canada with their two children, my eldest daughter and son-in-law live in Yorkshire with their three children, and my yongest daughter lives with her husband and two children in South Africa.

This is a new year, and I have found out a little bit more about myself after being in quilting flickr groups for a couple of years, so I will try to explain myself a little bit. My house is always decorated in pale cool refreshing colours, mainly pink and green and I find this very peaceful and soothing to live in, but when it comes to quilt swaps ....... I love the bright fresh colours, They can be bright colours, pale colours, vibrant colours, just not muddy colours. I love all of this mixed with white. These quilts look delightful hanging on the pale green wall of my sewing room, and make me want to smile each time I look at them.

The first quilt I made as a quilt along with Old Red Barn was a wonky log quilt, and this was definately outside my comfort box, wonky was a problem for me, then I chose really bright colours ..very scary, BUT I loved it, as did my grandson.

I find doing anything 'random' very very difficult, I always want to match up, sort out, place in order, so random is something I am trying more and more often as I love it and feel quite liberated when I do manage to just 'do it'

I do tend to love the cute type things,i.e. mushrooms, gnome, pixie's fairies cute kids, hedgehogs, I wonder if I am saying too much and its getting confusing!!!!!

Saying all of this, I see a quilt that is nowhere near the description above and just love it, so never fear there are always exceptions to my favourites.

I love to embroider, smock, crochet, and generally playing around with crafty things.

I hope you have found some information here that might help you to get to know me a little better, but please let me say, I just love receiving things made for me, and I would hate for any partner of mine to stress over what to make. Off you go and have fun, and I promiss anything sent will have a place of honour in our house.

I have tried to make up some Gallery pictures, as well as my favourites, so you may want to pop in and see those.
