PROFESSION:

I am currently a student at The Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. I am completing a masters in geography, specialising in spatial analysis and spatio-temporal modeling. Before I started my masters I completed a Bsc(hons) in Forest and Woodland Management at the national school of forestry in Penrith, England. Since my undergraduate studies I have also gained a diploma in Geographic Information Sciences, which involved courses in GIS, Remote Sensing, and Cartography. I have worked on various projects while studying, ranging from virtual reality modeling of historic sites to mapping ocean floor habitats. My studies have have been very helpful with my photography and design skills. I have leant a great deal about image processing from my Remote Sensing courses and practical applications to my research work. My cartography courses covered the full range of map making skill but concentrated on design principles, which are a great asset to my photography and design work.

INTERESTS

Photography is my main hobby, and until I make my millions on ISTOCK it is only a hobby, but I also enjoy lots of outdoors stuff like fishing and hiking. I have thing for old landrovers but while I am in canada there is not much I can do about it. I spend quite a bit of time messing around with web design testing new stuff and generally trying to put interactive things on my web sites. At some point I am planning on getting into web based mapping but I haven't got past reading about it so far. I like making my own equipment, partially because I am a poor student and partially because I like making stuff. My homemade gear has ranged from macro lenses and fibre optic flashes to quick release tripod bags.
