I'm an architect living and working in Washington DC. I'm just getting back into photography after a long hiatus. I'm currently using an entry level point and shoot digital camera, but am researching and saving money for a better one. I work with professional architectural photographers to stage our projects. This has taught me more about composition, layering, depth, texture and what really expensive cameras can accomplish and cheap ones can't. So in the meantime, I am experimenting with composition, light and colors. Night shots and extreme daylight shots are difficult. I find it interesting that so many people take pictures of food. I have never thought to do this, but am starting to become interested in objects as opposed to scenes - still life vs. action shots, calm vs. emotion. I have always found people and urban places to be more compelling - chaos and decay, but am starting to see how pictures of food or personal objects evoke an unseen person.
