I was born and educated in Massachusetts, U.S.A., earning a B.A. from Smith College and a Ph.D. in political science and African studies from Boston University in 1973. After two years in Malawi with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the University of Malawi, I spent six years at Briarcliff College in NY teaching political science and serving as Academic Dean and then twenty-two years at the State University of New York-College at Old Westbury, first as Vice-President for Academic Affairs for eight years and then as professor of Politics, Economics & Society. In 2000 I retired to pursue photography. My first solo exhibition was Dipticos at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires in 2005, a project also exhibited in the Amelie A. Wallace Gallery at SUNY-College at Old Westbury. My “Photo Interpretation of Heinrich Heine’s The Rabbi of Bacherach” was exhibited in Germany and New York in 2006 and was published as a book by Arte y Naturaleza in Madrid in 2005. In 2008, Untitled Series was exhibited at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts in St. Croix and -scapes and Cryptology were exhibited at the Catena Gallery in Buenos Aires. I am married to an artist and have four grown children.at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires in 2005, a project also exhibited in the Amelie A.
