About secret cake (secretcake.etsy.com):

I have a love for fabrics, buttons and other sewing notions, but my true passion lies in vintage. What stories would these beautiful bits of history tell?

Buying and selling handmade, sustainable products has never been more prolific. I started secret cake to support this movement by offering an eclectic mix of “rescued” textiles and notions for your unique, up-cycled creations. This photostream documents what was/is/will be in the shop.

secret cake combs antique stores, garage sales, estate sales and second-hand shops; inventory is always changing. If you find something that catches your eye, scoop it up, as it’s most likely one-of-a-kind or part of a limited supply!

Why the name "secret cake?"

One cool fall evening, my young daughter was tucked in bed but struggled to fall asleep. The house was quiet and still. I had just baked a cake and the comforting, intoxicating smell of rich butter, eggs, vanilla and chocolate filled our home. I crept up to my daughter’s room with a small piece of warm cake and a cold glass of milk. While the rest of the house stayed fast asleep, we sat clandestine and cross-legged on her bed amid a menagerie of stuffed animals, whispering and giggling as she ate her “secret cake.” It was a unique and special moment, and now an indelible, heartfelt memory for both of us.
