Second Chance Kennels
Drag to set position!
Second Chance Association is a registered charity (Reg number SCO32203), and was founded in 1994 by myself, Ena Conyon, my husband Frank and a very good friend Jean Cheetham when it was identified that there was a need to help in the re-housing of unwanted dogs. It all started with 4 puppies and now the Association regularly re-homes adult dogs and pups.
Working from home for the first five years, we held car boot sales / dances, in fact any kind of fund raising to raise the money to build the kennels. With help from Norrie (community) and the territorial army from Kirkcaldy at last we were seeing their dream come true and after a lot of very hard work opened the kennel doors on 2nd May 1999.
From it's concept, the need for elderly dogs to be re-homed has presented itself many times. An older dog, who is loving, loyal and healthy but has an owner who is too old to cope, needs a stable environment in which to adjust. To this end, our elderly dogs reside in the 'Waiting for God' kennels. They are looked after here for the rest of their natural lives or until such time as someone comes along who is looking for an older dog.
The kennels are situated in Thornton, near Kirkcaldy, on the east coast of scotland. We are surrounded by farm land and country walks, ideal for taking the residents for a stroll!
