I am a fine art outdoor photographer, digital image developing enthusiast and photography educator based in Ashland, Oregon.

I invite you to check out my Photoshop Video Tutorials including The Complete Guide to Luminosity Masks and Developing For Extended Dynamic Range.

I arrived at my career in photography rather accidentally. In the 1980s and 1990s I did some rock climbing and mountaineering and I would volunteer to be the expedition photographer because it would allow me to indulge my theatrical tendencies by giving slide shows to anyone I could corner in a dark room with a projector. Now my expeditions are to photograph mountains instead of climb them. I spend about a quarter of each year in the field on a quest for magical light; sleeping in my car or on the ground, stumbling around in the dark, eating bad food and avoiding showers.

Twice since 2008 his images have been winners in the Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice International Awards and have also been honored a few times in the International Conservation Photography Awards and other competitions. Outdoor Photographer Magazine stated that “Sean has made his mark by taking steps away from the more staid, traditional landscape scene. The path blazed by Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Elliot Porter is being followed by a new breed of photographer who isn't saddled with the same restrictions of film and darkroom.”

I am a founding member and one sixth of the Pacific Northwest based photography team known as Photo Cascadia. With a Master of Arts in Teaching and 12 years experience as a middle school science teacher, photography education has been a natural fit.
