I was born, raised & educated in Scotland. I'm still active with local groups and birding, taking photos and always was a committed conservationist.

Nature, wildlife and travel always inspired me and I shared my first pair of binoculars with my older brother when I was about 8 years old.

At 14 (by this time, now with my own pair of binoculars..), myself and a group of friends would walk from my home town of Haddington down to the Nature reserve of Aberlady Bay on the Firth of Forth, Scotland. At the same time I joined the 'fledgling' East Lothian Conservation volunteers under the leadership of Archie Mathieson, Scotland's first countryside ranger!

My family and I lived for many years in Cadiz Province in Andalucia in the area close to the famous ancient lagoon called La Janda. Our two daughters were both born in Cadiz and my wife and we ran 'Andalucian Guides' a birding and nature tour company. I'm still involved with my friends @ www.lagunalajanda.org

I also led tours with Limosa Holidays during this period as Principal tour leader and also The Travelling Naturalist, both from the UK. This gave me wonderful opportunities to travel widely, meet some wonderful people and travel widely through some stunningly beautiful countries and I met and worked with many excellent local guides.

We now live in western Baden-Württemberg close to the border with France, for the past ten years.

I've always had a passion with photography, particularly birds, but all living things' too! Although my camera gear is getting a bit old, and like me, we all still function.

My many 'photo snaps' cover so many happy times and hopefully these images can stimulate people to do more more to protect and conserve our nature and our environment.
