Learned photography with a Pentax Spotmatic (all manual) which I kept for 30 years until I gave it to a Salvadoran revolutionary. The first time I was in a darkroom, and saw an image appear from a white paper in the developer, I discovered magic! Finally got a digital camera with all manual settings - and love getting back to what taking photos was meaningful for me.

 

What I look for in a photograph... some soul, energy, humor, provocativeness, beauty, imperfection and creativity. If a photo can't reveal a hidden truth, it should be an enjoyable lie.

 

There is a inverse relationship between imagination and high-definition. If you look at My Favorites, most are Black and White and grainy.
