Every day I view the mountains on all sides of me in far Northern California and I think about what place I want to explore next. I'm not a native to this area so everything is a new discovery for me. That's what makes it so special. No matter the season I'll find a trail (or off-trail) location to hike or backpack.

The history of this area fascinates me. Generations ago people came here with almost nothing to find their future. Although I carry some modern luxuries in my pack, I would like to think I share some of their experiences as I walk the same trails.

I love to meet people on the trail and in camp. There is always a good story to be told whether the journey has been long or short.

Yes, I enjoy photography! I want to ensure I will always have memories for myself when the years catch up and I can no longer take the steep trails. On the trail, my camera is always on me, and not in my pack. I don't worry about the time of day, although I do my very best to improve the light in my images. If I'm lucky, I'll be in a great place at a great time. I consider myself fortunate to be in a great place at any time.

I like to think of myself as an optimist. If you look for goodness, you'll find it.
