I got started in photography when I received a Pentax K1000 SE 35mm SLR as a Christmas present in the late 1980s. I took a few classes in photography at my local community college and high school, focusing on basic photographic technique and black and white darkroom developing and printing.

After I went to college, photography mostly fell by the wayside. My interest was reignited when I got my first digital point and shoot camera, a Pentax Optio 550 around 2003, later replaced by a Olympus Stylus 800 after the Optio was stolen.

A few months ago, after bumping up against the limitations of point-and-shoot photography, I decided to finally take the plunge and bought my first DSLR, a Nikon D90.
