Howdy! I'm Scott DuBar and I'm an illustrator and graphic designer based in Charlottesville, VA. I've had a Flickr account since I was an illustration student at VCU, but I've never really done much with it. Back then Flickr was all about the photography, but these days it looks like there are more illustrators, painters, urban sketchers, and graphic designers posting, making it a much more interesting place.

In my spare time, I am developing a couple of graphic novels. The first is Little Monster, about a boy who goes on a spooky adventure to confront the evil witch who cursed him. The second is a much larger project called Kid Hercules and the Ominous Orbs From Outer Space. As a way to help me get comfortable with my main characters, I embarked on a 365 Drawing Challenge. Every day for one year I drew a picture of Kid Hercules and a few of the friends and villains he encounters along the way. It was a very rewarding exercise and one that I can strongly recommend to anyone looking to improve their drawing skills.

In addition to being an artist, I enjoy hiking, superhero movies, cooking, and meditation. These days I don't travel very often but when I do, I usually go to places like India or Bali, Indonesia. I lived in India for many years learning about meditation and yoga. While there, I got my first opportunity to develop my illustration and graphic design skills while working on a variety of charitable projects.

These days, I work for a wide variety of clients, including Mike's HARDER, CFA Institute, Blue Ridge Outdoors, FORE Magazine, DoodyCalls.com and more. My first children's book, Short Pump Bump! A Lyrical, Spherical, Rhyming Romp Through Richmond, was published December 15, 2017 by Belle Isle Books, and written by Angie Miles.
