Hello,

My name is Scot Thomas Philip 1st, and I am not a photographer.

Actually till very recent I hadn't ever consider or given any thought to taking photos at all. A buddy of mine showed me some very nice photos from one of his trips and told me about Flickr...guess what? After some investigation and looking into; I decided this may be something I wanna try!

Due to my work and circumstances... I travel quite often and now I'm beginning to re-consider the idea of carrying a camera to record some of the sights and places I visit...

Live in the western part of the Texas Hill Country (Actually is more desert) around the San Angelo area.

Living in other states has taught me how much I like Texas for the climate and friendly folk all over my area.

I am in awe of the photographic talent seen in Flickr...it can be intimidating at time but as my personal motto is "Try it at least once" I'll give it a spin and see where it takes me...

Thanks very much in advance for your visits and comments.

Scot

His photos reflect a love for his family, second to none. A love for his land, TEXAS~ A story in every frame depicts his unique point of life almost non-existence today. His visual poetry seems to be an outlet for that which he doesn't know himself how excellent he is...A man I call my friend; my buddy and I wish he was my own brother. Long live the family buddy~ Buddy go get 'em~~ .

September 26-2012 Art is in the eye of the beholder; heard someone say once or twice... Art, beauty, photography go hand in hand from my point of view. Seldom seen in one image yet every time I visit your collection something strikes a chord within...It could be the ability in every image to captivate, to make me feel positive, good about life! As if I were peering through a microscope into a private world of your own making. A world few have the privilege to enter ; more so reason to thank you for all your work and everything you do to capture-project part of yourself! A part you may not know yourself! One of my many hobbies is photography. I'm quite smitten by its standard; in this case your own.... Your view of things, the world around you; It's quite simple. A camera and an object. Or, a camera and the person. That's about it. You and your camera and you are good to go; till you take one shot... What I love about your photography is that it tells me many things that you never even see in your naked eyes. Once more It's like a microscopic lens showing most of the person's flaws; and best qualities! Thanks again and again Scot! I hope others see what I see; it will make stopping by a pleasure! Alexander

To all... When I visit your gallery; I see what may not be obvious to others my friend. One fine man, one excellent photographer aka capturer of cool images!! Though you may not consider an expert but an aficionado my friend; your work speaks louder than any word I can say-write~ A humble man, a fantastic cowboy, bronc rider...You've come out of your shell last couple of years in fine form buddy! Your collection is extraordinary; especially when it comes to light; totally awesome dude~ Someone said: What I love about photography is that it tells you many things that you never even see in your naked eyes. It's like microscopic lens showing most of the person's flaws. They weren't kidding! Do you know how many photos you have taken up until now? Some people have taken thousands of pictures to reach a point where one can begin to evaluate them objectively. Looking upon your photos as if you were looking at them through someone else’s eyes is a good way to give yourself constructive criticism. When I compare your first photos with your most recent, I see a tremendous. I can tell your first photos were your attempt to capture done well...Now, I see amazing works of art my friend... “It can be a trap of the photographer to think that his or her best pictures were the ones that were hardest to get. – Timothy Allen Your edit, crop, resizing for most of us is very difficult but not in your case my friend. I see it, have seen it...A cinch! I think your natural abilities come into play at this point with amazing results. Sometimes taking a quick look at all the photos and then going away for a while before taking a closer look lends a fresh eye to your viewing. You may see things you did not notice previously. All I can say is please continue on for our visual pleasure bud~ Carlos

Sept 2012 "Art is something that makes us more thoughtful and well-rounded humans." I could tell you that art plays a large part in making our lives infinitely rich. Imagine, just for a minute, a world without art! (You may think "So what?" but please consider the impact that lack of graphics would have on your favorite video game.) Art stimulates different parts of our brains to make us laugh or incite us to react negatively, with a whole gamut of emotions in between. Art gives us a way to be creative and express ourselves. For some people, art is the entire reason they get out of bed in the morning. On the other hand, art is such a large part of our everyday lives that we may hardly even stop to think about it. Look at you at this time; you stop to read Scot's profile due to a reaction to his photos which in a sense is art captured-presented by his skills, by his idea of a certain notion or simply because he was moved to give a moment of his life! Every object surrounding us is filled with an artistic notion; the desk or table where you are, right this minute. Someone designed that. It is art. Your shoes are art. Your coffee cup is art. All functional design, well done, is art. So, you could say "Art is something that is both functional and (hopefully) aesthetically pleasing to our eyes." You might say "Art is in a constant state of change, so nobody can really pin down what it is." The constant change part is true, but the not pinning it down part is going to get you a bad grade. It may even raise a comment or two about your being some sort of wisenheimer. Don't go this route. When I see Scot's collection of images I see a humble perspective of a man capturing his beautiful environment with only one idea; to share with others what he sees that matter most to him. What I see is beauty; in a man who is in complete humility of his surroundings...In the immense universe we live; it may not matter much. but it does matter to me! Hopefully he'll touch your soul as well; will motivate you to think and thank a wonderful world of art he's captured in his gallery. Romeo

However I guess I might have to scour a couple of galaxies in order to meet a nicer, more decent guy than my Texan friend, Scot Thomas Philip! Although I've never visited the U.S.A. I'm really glad to have "met" Scot through the medium of Flickr... Oh, and by the way- He is a PHENOMENAL PHOTOGRAPHER!!! His images NEVER fail to provoke your thoughts and stimulate your attention. He captures perfectly, the cinematic qualities of the American South! Go see his stuff NOW!! Cheers, Scot my friend!
