Scitech is a hands-on science centre with exhibitions, programs and services designed for people of all ages. We pride ourselves on making science an inspiring and exciting experience. Our mission is to increase interest and participation by Western Australians in science and technology.

As a not-for-profit organisation, funding for the City West centre comes mostly from generous government grants, corporate partnerships and admission and membership fees.

Since opening its doors in 1988, Scitech has grown from a small City West attraction to the State’s leading science and communication provider. We are always looking for fascinating new ways to actively engage people in science and technology. Our exhibits, shows, programs and exhibitions are constantly changing in line with the latest innovations, meaning no two visits to Scitech are ever the same. We were the first Australian Science centre to produce our own large scale exhibitions and we continue to design and build most of our exhibits on site.

Scitech is also one of the biggest professional learning providers in the state, delivering an extensive program to around 2,500 teachers every year.

Scitech has been inducted into the Western Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame as a major tourist attraction. Each year, around 250,000 visitors come through the City West Centre, while our travelling science teams deliver a wide variety of hands-on science workshops, lessons and activities to more than 100,000 people in regional and remote WA.

In 2004 Scitech opened Horizon - the Planetarium, a major new facility showcasing astronomical full-dome screen movies.
