I am a super geek earth girl who lives in Northern California. Awed daily by the wonder of the natural world, I often go on long hikes and wander beaches. I am known to stop and inspect an insect or flower for much longer than is sensible. Having a facination with mechanical gadgets, many clocks have been destroyed in my clutches.
I am fortunate to work in challenging field where chemistry, engineering and biology meet, and must exercise my creativity and problem solving skills daily. However, things at the lab can get pretty stressful at times so I relax by designing and assembling handmade items, some of which I sell on etsy (www.sciencekitty.etsy.com). I enjoy learning new skills and have tried my hand at metal working, glass blowing, knitting, sewing, beading, and more recently prospecting, rock polishing and carving. I strive to make unique items which incorporate unusual materials as well as vintage, salvaged and recycled items.
I hope my work reveals the unexpected beauty of ordinary objects, or at least makes you smile.
