Schnitzer grew up in rural northern Minnesota, and has lived in Idaho, Montana, Michigan, Vermont, Wisconsin, Washington DC, and Wyoming. He now calls Colorado home. Russ is a graduate of the University of Idaho.

I first came across Russ' work several months ago when a Nature Conservancy reserve photo jumped out at me. It was a dusk photo, and was almost surreal in its drama. When I see his contact thumbnail, it is at the top of my list of photos to see. Russ obviously loves the outdoors, and manages to convey his respect for nature with his photographic art. He doesn't post a lot of photos, but his nature work is breathtaking in its simple elegance. Thanks Russ, and keep 'em coming.
