Between 1951 and 1960, the state of South Carolina spent over $200 million on new school construction. The purpose of this school building program was to materially equalize the state's segregated public school system.
Over 700 new schools were constructed during this time period. This Flickr page is dedicated to the photographs of some of these schools that still remain in South Carolina.
