I'm a storyteller and a roustabout. I live in Boston, Massachusetts, but I hate the damn cold. I am a filmmaker, and therefore my goal as a still photographer is to always tell a story. I'll take a pixelated image with low light any day over a lush 12 megapixel shot, just so long as it speaks to me. I especially like documenting life as it occurs. I often use photography as a means of remembering certain moments and places, people, anything that I feel should be remembered. Mostly I work with film, but since quitting my job at a photo lab, it just isn't an option. Ideally, I like shooting on 35mm, or medium format, then making high resolution scans and working in photoshop to enhance highlights and detail. My favorite photographer is Bresson, then a close second would be Robert Frank. I believe that the true photographer (as an artist) has the capacity to surround himself in a place and wait for the image to appear. A very Buddhist way of approaching art, but it seems to work for me. The other side of my art is geared my toward staging photos (the filmmaker side).
