A heart beating in New England...

Hi, thanks for stopping by. I am Rachel, an exile in the USA for over two decades who wears her heart on her sleeve. The word saudade defines me as part of my personal journey through this fleeting life of ours. It is part of my DNA and my cultural heritage and life experiences.

I love art, creative minds, persons with depth and soul, music,nature, and being alive. I embraced photography as a hobby not that long ago, and somehow it became my therapy. Suddenly, it was as if I was not only seeing, but also hearing the world around me. Without any formal training, just passion, my images are usually without much editing or special effects.

For me photography is music to the eyes, and poetry to the soul.It instantly fulfills me in every way,bringing me a certain joy, a sense of wonder and awe for life itself. It makes me feel alive, inspired,true to myself. It is where I can bare my soul without holding back anything. It is my realm,where I allow my emotions to overflow.

I still find myself still learning to freeze that moment, always in tune with my surroundings, whenever I am not tied up to work, and other responsibilities. I do have a semi-professional camera,but I find it intimidating still. So I keep playing with my point and shoot trying to capture that instant in time...Recently, I have also started using my iphone for its convenience.

I am all over the spectrum when it comes to themes to photograph:reflections, people,flowers,nature,emotions,colors,reflections, random things, objects. I still have not found where should I concentrate, or if I have to. If it makes me happy, if it feels right, and catches my eye, I go for it.As simple as that.
