Sands Tea Shop is an adventure grown out of a search for new endeavors and opportunities.

I am a homeschooling mom of 11 children. Many of them have grown their wings of independence and have begun their own lives’ paths. It’s not been easy to ‘cut the apron strings’ with any of them and with each one’s departure I have gone through a certain amount of stress learning to let go.

I have 5 children still at home and I treasure this time, knowing that they too will find their way to adulthood and will fly just as easily as the others did.

So what does all this have to do with tea? I think the following quote says it best for me:

The tea party supposes neither appetite nor thirst, and has no object but distraction, no basis but delicate enjoyment Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savari

So it’s about stepping away from the busyness of life and taking a moment to find peace. It’s about sharing a few moments with those around me – creating memories so that I can cherish them later when they’re gone. And when they come back, “The mere chink of cups and saucers turns the mind to happy repose.” George Gissie

We enjoy coming up with new tea blends and I love having the opportunity to share what I've learned using herbs, especially during pregnancy, labor and nursing afterward. It's a beautiful thing!
