I’m curious about human patterns. In an attempt to understand myself and society better, I explore our patterns and interactions in my artwork through portraiture and pattern work. The types of patterns we have, where they came from, how they affect others and how we can change them, or what happens if we don’t. Combining humanistic interest with a love of design, my work draws from influences as far ranging as photographic portraiture, art deco design, modernist architecture and colorist ideas. I’m interested in discovering the backgrounds and harmonies in peoples’ lives; portraying individual characteristics through stylized representations. By using design as a loose metaphor for thought, and material as strata for being, my work expresses the beauty and contradictions of our complexities.

My work has lead to commissions, grants, public works and exhibits at such venues as Renegade Fairs, Black Book Gallery, Object + Thought Gallery, Emmanuel Gallery and Bridge Art Fair, and media coverage from Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Reader, Wooster, Conscious Choice, Art MoCo, Design Milk, Notcot and The Denver Egotist.

I studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, ultimately earning a BA in photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2000. Born and raised in Chicago by South American artists, I am currently living and working in sunny Denver, CO.

I have been exhibiting and accepting commissions since 2001.
