Samuel M. Gebru is the President and Chairman of the Ethiopian Global Initiative. Born in Khartoum, Sudan to Ethiopian parents in 1991, Samuel moved to the United States in 1995, residing in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition to his undergraduate studies in political science at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, Samuel is a recognized young leader in the United States and Ethiopia. He has broad experience, including with nonprofit organizations, community organizing, political campaigns, youth and family affairs, cultural competency and service in the public and private sectors. Samuel is a product of the Cambridge Public Schools and Cambridge after school programs. Using his blog to share his views on Ethiopian affairs, Samuel continues to make media appearances locally and internationally promoting youth leadership, social entrepreneurship and collective action. He is multilingual and enjoys speaking to groups and organizing people.
