Transformative work and by that I mean it brings the truth to your lips. Everyone who loves Will's work, is changed by it. His work expands our natural capacity for empathy, for acknowledging suffering and for offering to act on each other's behalf. Really.

Your art work and creative liberties you take with your work to transforming your images to make them uniquely yours is something that inspires me greatly. The message it emits from it (in tremendous volumes!) is fantastic and your dedication to creating meaningful work has, from the first day I discovered your work, influenced me to continue my own passions for art and led me to enroll in school to follow that desire. Thank you for simply creating. The work speaks to me and tells me to create for myself. CORNY I KNOW but thank you. I certainly wouldn't be where I am without your work.

William Schaffs work ethic is nothing short of collossal. Will was a year ahead of me in high school and his artwork has always intrigued me. He gave me some good advice way back when and it was well received: "try to carry around a sketch book where ever you go, so you can either write down your ideas & thoughts or quickly sketch what it is in front of you" circa 1992. I have not been in the same (art) room with this guy in years, but all of his recent work is taking me back to the good ol' days when anything outside those four walls seemed blurry. Keep up the great work my friend. Peace and Blessings, Miguel P.

William Schaff's work is nothing short of inspirational. So many thoughts are provoked through his work, and so much detail is revealed to the eye and to the subconscious mind.

Imagine you are standing inside of a drawing inside of William Schaff's mind. At your feet you see tiny curled shavings of black clay, delicate bits of cut red paper, spilled paint, exacto blades and tumble weeds of dog hair. You look up and your face is brushed with the layered horrors and wonders of history, hanging and waving toward you in long paper sheets of dark reds, white, and muted browns. Step to the edges and you can see bird's wings fluttering, flowers opening to the sun, and life singing it's praises to God. In the air is the sound of stringed instruments, a trumpet, an accordian cranking, and always the low hum of the dead begging to never be forgotten. In the words of another, "This is the art that William has lost teeth and bled for." This is the art that must be made. God bless you William for creating it.

His work beautifully testifies to the way life weaves in and out of the march of history. Sometimes knitting you into your grandparent's childhood vacations, sometimes trampling you under older stranger evils, and sometimes stitching you into the universal cat's cradle.
