I am Sam Foley, the son of Lucy Foley, born in Stuart, Virginia in 1933. I married Helen Voyles in Dallas, Texas in 1954. I lived away from Stuart for 38 years and moved back after retiring. I was asked by the local newspaper editor to write my biography covering the time away from Stuart, and the 30 years working and traveling the world for Texas Instruments.
While working on the biography, we discussed the subject of what we were going to do with the thousands of photos in our possession, which included pictures provided by members of the Foley family and the wife's relatives in the Hukill and Voyles families in Texas.
We decided that I should sort through the albums folders and the 6 boxes of loose photos ( 102 pounds - estimated to be around 10 / 15 thousand individual prints) and separate them into categories that were to be saved and those that would be meaningless to future generations. The saved hard copies were placed into 40 separate folders and scanned into the computer under the name, Foley Family Photos. After reviewing, the final selection prints were uploaded into a commercial photo storage site called, Flickr, under specific named people albums and a few other interesting categories. The computer files containing all the scanned photos have been saved on multiple SD cards and placed in a fire proof safe.
The hard copies that have been placed in assigned folders have been given to or mailed to applicable interested family relatives. All parties have been provided with instructions for viewing/downloading/printing the photos on line. All family photos will be private but there will be three public galleries that will not include any people. I have provided the password to an assigned interested person to be the administrator.
