I am a renal counsellor in Brighton (now retired), living in the Sussex countryside. My passions are travelling, music, photography, whale watching and swimming with whales, safaris and wildlife, different cultures, costumes, clothes, fabrics, street art, people........ and my house in the country. Oh - and my husband! Favourite music is undoubtedly African. No other music comes close to the vibrancy and complicated rhythms and soaring voices of people like Youssou N'Dour and Salif Keita, or the bluesy laid back feeling of Toumast, Tamikrest and Terekaft, or the guitar of Bombino and Vieux Farka Toure. But I also love lots of other stuff - Athlete, Green Day, Scritti Politti, Talking Heads, Snow Patrol, Robert Wyatt, Aimee Mann, Ron Sexsmith, Bruce Springsteen, Ska, reggae, dubstep, Bhangra, Rai, Gnawa..................... Loads more! Now I am a pensioner I see it as an opportunity to have more time for travel and more exciting challenges ahead. My 60th birthday was in Kenya, and the first holiday afterwards we went swimming with humpback whales. Not ready for the sofa and slippers yet!!
Many of the photos are taken by my husband Rik. "Sallyrango" represents photos taken by both of us. We swap cameras a lot and can rarely remember who took which photo. We each try to claim the best ones!
