Hello, my name is Sabrina Polehn. I am a native to Vancouver Washington, as in I was born in the hospital near Hela High. I often take pictures of anything I find interesting, whether it be a dog with white eyes or random objects, preferably colorful. I don’t plan on photographing things much past this class, however, because I prefer to draw instead, which is pretty much my only talent. However, I never saw any art classes when I was choosing them for Hela High, so I went for Photography instead, thinking it’d be relatively easy, although the truth is it hasn't been easy for me at all.
Before Hela High, I went to Union High school. They had a Photography class, but I wasn’t really interested in it, nor the art class, despite my love of drawing. Instead, I went for medical classes, such as Med Science 1 and 2, and to a much lesser extent, Child Psychology. I did enjoy those classes, and it was partially because of them was I persuaded to come to Hela High, I probably wouldn't be here right now if I didn't.
At the moment, I’m really into the drawing kind of art, especially digital, which is when you draw on the computer using a tablet (Specifically made for drawing) and an art program, although certain programs can double as an art program, such as Photoshop, which is also photo-editing software. I also have a small blog for my art on Tumblr, which at this moment in time of writing has 11 pieces of artwork on it and nearly 50 followers. I don’t plan on doing much more Photography, only drawing, although if I see photos I like on my Dashboard I will like them, although my “likes list” will always comprise of around 80% illustrations.
Don’t get me wrong though, Photography class was a pretty fun experience, and I got to do creative things I’d have never done if I didn't take the class, such as take a rather frightening picture of a Ken Doll with a knife taped to his hand, looking at the camera, as if to say “You’re next”. I wouldn't have done any of that if I had chosen some other elective. At the very least, if nothing else, I think that by taking photos like those, I learned to be a little more creative.
