S-va-ha was formed to be an artists group seeking a direct connection between contemporary artand Buddhism.

It was formed, by TETTA, who produces CG artworks and runs a project in which she applies bodhisattva makeup on the faces of 1,000 people and takes photos of them, and Shugyo Kawakami, a monk/painter who expands the traditional Buddhist art/manga styles into contemporary “yorozuga” art, and Yukihisa Hirabayashi, an artist/monk who explores the connection between contemporary art and Buddhism through paintings, sculptures and installation works.
