I paint emotional responses to what I see and feel. It is my goal, through art, to share these experiences with others and elicit similar feelings in them. I have always painted in an abstract manner with color, shape and size being of most importance. Truly mesmerized by the world around me, I become overwhelmed and internalize the fundamental elements that I observe.
I usually begin painting with a specific idea generated from experiences, suggestions, objects or photographs. From there, it often spirals into uncharted territory. I always paint with music, so the melodies and lyrics are undoubtedly transferred onto the canvas. Sometimes, I will listen to the same tunes over and over which probably explains the repetition and rhythm in my work.
My paintings have an unconventional, whimsical quality; my written descriptions have similar attributes. Circles are central to most of my recent works; however, they surfaced early and have been an ever present, subconscious occurrence throughout the years. Now, I am consciously choosing circles and exploring color infused with electricity… eccentricity.
