My earliest memories about photography are standing with my Grandfather in a darkroom at his home, watching a black and white photo slowly appear in the developer tray. I work in color today, and use a digital camera. But I still remember composing and editing in a darkroom using a strip of film, light, paper and chemicals.
I joined Flickr to share photographs with people from work, friends and family. But Flickr's photostream timeline has become a useful "nag" these days. It reminds me of what I've done lately - or not - as the case is more often.
Any number of the adventures my wife and I have taken over the years could be given the cliche "a trip of a lifetime". And, in several cases, I expect that will be true. At least in the sense that additional visits to the same location may not be possible. But we have returned to several locations that were more affordable for our budget and enjoyed new adventures (Costa Rica for instance). And, when I step back and consider the many places we have been able to go, it's pretty amazing. Of course, it happened because it was a priority. I may retire to a small shack at the end of this. The financial cost varied considerably and some adventures, though planned years in advance, still came at a "gulp" when looking at the total cost. But every journey was more than worth the cost.
Now, things are starting to slow down and there have been many challenges in 2020. We've risen to meet those as best we could and I think we managed to have a few good adventures even with limitations.
