I teach 4th - 12th graders mobile photography and photo editing via PSCC. I Will eventually switch to another program like On1 or Exposure and Affinity Photo / Paintshop Pro once I find something stable on a variety of laptops. I've tried just about every photo editing software our there. Been in the hobby for over 40yrs and make a little money from it. As a former Machinist I like to tinker with things. I don't use this site to advertise any particular photography of mine just having fun, my interests vary with time. I post very few of the portrait / event shoots I do. I teach my students to use what they have available to them or make what they need for lighting equipment (they usually have almost no money to spend).
Update: I have quit teaching for now. Maybe after the pandemic I'll start back with it.
I get ideas and inspiration from other flickr members.
I tend to shoot landscapes of places that are close to where I live 90% of the time so I can hike and bring my dog. I'm not one to go and drive 3-5hrs just to attempt to get a good photo unless I take the occasional trip with family and friends. it's just too costly with gas and time to travel for photos. Anderson River Park and a few other recreation areas are my main places I go even if they are not what most serious photographers would consider a place worth photographing. If i can find ways to get interesting photos in those places then I hope I can motivate others who live nearby to give it a try. Better to get out and try then rarely use the camera. Modern cell phones can take great photos with their computational photography but the results still pale in comparison to my DSLR on the big screen. If I use a cell phone in low light it needs to be on a tripod and forced into a low ISO. I find LR camera mode and HDR does a good job if you steady the phone. A cell phone frees you up to try many compositions. Once you find a comp you like then setup your camera. Topaz labs plug-ins (particularly Sharpen AI) are a regular part of my editing.
