Hi everyone,

My name is Ruth Choi, and I’m a photography hobbyist who lives in Toronto, Canada. If there is one thing my friends and family know about me, it’s that I’ve always loved nature and wildlife. For as long as I could remember, I have cared about protecting the environment. It seemed to be a kind of natural direction for me, to turn my love for nature into moments captured on camera. I can remember when I first discovered my passion for photography: in late 2007 on a visit to Quebec City. Back then though, I only had a Canon point-and-shoot. I carried my little camera around with me, taking pictures of laughs and memories shared with friends, of random and unexpected sunsets, and of really anything that caught my eye. In mid-2009, I got my first and current dSLR – a Nikon D90, and with good timing too as my little point-and-shoot died on me shortly after. Nowadays, it’s a lot harder carrying my heavy dSLR around, but I try when I can.

Nature continues to be my dominant subject, as I am as in love with it now as I was when I was a child. Though I may not be an expert on plants, or animals, or photography for that matter, I’d like to think I make up for it in some way with my passion. As many people know, Toronto isn’t exactly a city teeming with wildlife and nature, though it is still a beautiful city full of different cultures and vibrant neighbourhoods. I love Toronto for its diversity, and from time to time, I enjoy snapping photos of it…But when I am yearning to see nature..or even a different part of the world, I take a trip to a destination I’ve never been before – the other thing most people know about me is that I love to travel. So far, I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Hong Kong, China, Japan, Vancouver, Newfoundland, England, Costa Rica, Cuba, India, and a bunch of States in America including Hawaii, California, Arizona, etc.
