Welcome to the Flickr Page for russellskitchen.wordpress.com. Here you can find pictures of all the lovely things I cook. Here is a quick intro to my blog.

In the early summer of 2011 my taste buds we reawakened on a trip to the Dordogne, South West France. I stayed in a beautiful gite attached to an old stone house just outside the village of Limeuil. A sleepy village nestled amongst the hills and valleys where the smell of freshly baking croissants greeted you in the morning as you looked out over the confluence of the Vezere and Dordogne.

Small villages and vibrant towns treated me to one gastronomic adventure after another. Towns like Le Bugue and Sarlat had vibrant markets with fresh gnarled vegetables straight from the ground, still dusted in soil. Stalls full of goats cheeses and big reams of sausage. The back streets often offering wonderful long three course meals packed with fresh food for so little money.

The Perigord area of the the Dordogne is famous for its Foie gras, Magret de canard, confit.

So following in the footsteps of Auguste Escoffier, Elizabeth David and Rick Stein I am setting out to explore a new world of food and hopefully taking you along with me.
