A San Antonio native,I've shot film all my life.I'm a former news photographer.I worked at The Brownsville Herald from 1985 to 2000.A daily paper on the US-Mexico border. As one of three staff photographers,I covered news, features, and sports. When I got there in1985,The Herald was a black and white paper,we shot Tri-X for everything. Then it was decided we would go color, and for quality we should use a color reversal film (E-6).We shot Fujichrome 100 Professional D (Fuji RDP).We used a Wing-Lynch machine to run the film. After several years we switched to color negative film(C-41),still using the same machine(w/ different tanks). In the early 90's we started hearing news of a "digital" camera. No film.A three pronged effort by The AP,Nikon, and Kodak. They got together and made the first digital camera for news papers:the sixteen thousand dollar NC2000.A two mega pixel boat anchor of a camera. It had a PCMCIA hard drive, and NO monitor. To save battery power,it would sleep after 90 seconds. When you tapped the shutter button you'd hear the hard disk spin up.I love how that sounds. That was in1997.It'sNovember 2021,and I've gone full circle. Now,I shoot film for just about everything. ~^^
