Goran Popović's specialization is in his very unique photographic approach to his own working environment. Surrounded by heavy mining machineries of fascinating sizes, he explores a world i had no idea even existed. The humans in his mining photography r hard working men who besides their rough and strong appearances r merely in charge of those alien appearing, megaton iron dragons of machinery. He fantastically uses both natural and available lighting and his usual modus operandi for exterior mining shots is the low-angle lighting that appears in early morning pre-sunrise and this gives a fantastic extraterrestrial visual effect to his already epic scenery . Combined with monochrome finishing his prints appear so contemporary and yet surrealistic.
