I've been told I'm not your typical librarian, but in Ann Arbor there are so many eccentrics and creative types it is hard to say if I'm terribly unusual. While a librarian by training and inclination, I am equally involved in informatics and geekdom, especially related to the Internet.
I've been taking pictures since middle school. My first camera was a cheap manual one I got with boxtops. I think I got it from Quaker Oats, about 40 years ago. I used to take a shot, then go hide in my brothers' closet with the door closed, open the back of the camera, reset it, and take another shot on the same frame. I got my siblings to model for me, so with the double explosures took pics like the oldest brother's head in a glass jar or the baby with daylilies blooming over his face. This was all B/W, of course. I just got my first digital camera about a year ago, and love it!
I think photography was probably my first real love, regarding creative endeavors. Since then, I've added several other 'addictions' -- music, crafts, poetry, dance, martial arts, and much more.
