I am a professional writer, born in Maryland living in Mendocino, California U.S.A. I returned home recently after 12 years traveling and teaching English in Asia. My biggest fascination is travel. I spent delightfully enriching time in Bali, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam while based in Xiamen, China. But it really feels and looks good to be home on the north coast again.

Through first Fotolog, and now Flickr for the past twelve years, photography has become increasingly important to me. Having a digital camera has changed how I see the world.

Until November 2006 I lived with an amazing pal, Carney the Cat. He was one of the world's greatest models. He certainly loved the camera. And then, Kita and Taj, more cats came to my home and delighted my camera. Now I'm rediscovering life in Mendocino, California under the delightful companionship of Wiki Cat.

I didn't realize Flickr gave opportunities to post testimonials on someone's profile. When I learned this, I simply had to write something about Karin. I have been so inspired by her photos. Her work is so beautiful and professional looking. Yet, I love that she has a funny, playful side where she allows us to see her "cat bunnies". Those photos of her cats inspired a whole new element of fun on our family blog (about our pet rats). Humor, creativity and playfulness are very powerful in the lives of kids, as well as adults. Karin generously gave me permission to "steal" her ideas for our blog. The laughter it's produced in our home and lives has been worth more than gold, especially in recent months. Thank you, Karin, for documenting your creative spirit so well. Your work means more to me than you could possibly ever know. I can summarize my testimonial best by just pasting this portion of an email I sent her a couple months ago: "Your creativity has inspired such fun times with my pet rats, my kid (and his friends), and my husband. I love meeting people like you - people who look for little ways to not take life too seriously. There's plenty of darkness in the world that we ALL have to tend to, so knowing that there are folks out there like you that I can relate to and be on this playful, animal loving journey with...well, that just makes the darkness a bit more bearable. These "little things" allow me to retreat to a world of fun, silly, happy distractions. Your creative bunny ears have inspired lots of fun in our home. Just to give you an example: sadly, my sister in law is terminally ill and we visited them over Easter. It has been a very painful time for all of us. In hopes of temporarily distracting everyone from the overwhelming grief we all felt, I showed them the kitty pics on your flickr account and asked them to help me make some fun costumes for our rats. Everyone got involved, even the adults!!! Instead of the typical tears, we were soon howling with laughter. Bet you never knew your cat bunny creations could leave such a monumental mark on the lives of total strangers, huh? I wish you happiness and continued opportunities to bring some fun spark into the lives of total strangers!"
