I've loved the outdoors and wildlife since I was a kid ( 8 or 9) but didn't get *serious* about photographing wildlife(mostly birds) until, in 2005/2006, I bought a Canon 20D along with a few lenses: 100mm macro, 17-40mm and a 50mm, f/1.8. Unless I'm taking photos of our family, probably 95% of my photos are of wildlife of some kind..birds mostly, but I also enjoy shooting mammals or small critters with a macro. My wife and I were able to take our first trip to Africa in May of 2017 and, both armed with a Canon 7D Mark II and a Canon 100-400mm II, shot a *ridiculous* number of photos (~32,000+, about 11,000 of those were with iPhones) at the nine different locations in 4 different countries that we visited. It was a wonderful trip and we were fortunate to be able to return to Africa in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023.
