Hey there!

My name is Ron Derrek, I'm 16 years old, and I'm an aspiring photographer. Cameras will be the only thing I shoot...well probably I'll try out an M-16 in the future...hehe..but yeah cameras is what I shoot with as of right now.

When I was young, still young today to, I didn't think anything was special in photography. Such as the pictures you see in the magazines, newspapers, and books. The only pictures I thought were special was pictures of family and friends taken on the old 35mm disposable cameras. You know, the family albums you guys have. When I see people with their big cameras (DSLR/SLRs), I also never thought it was special also, I've only seen those when I'm taking school portraits. But now, everywhere I go, I look at everything camera related, I look at what cameras other people are shooting, what lens they are sporting, whether they have a battery grip or not, and if its one of those high-end cameras. It's very interesting seeing what other people are shooting at or with, its the idea that they are also capturing memories to.

Aside from that, I got my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel 500D, and I'm loving it so far. I think I overused the limit shutter actuations, but hey at least I got something hehe. Before I got my first DSLR, I've been shooting with a Canon point and shoot, but I would never get the flexibility as you would have with a DSLR. But right now I'm taking a photography class, and we've been shooting with the 35mm Film SLRs, and develop those pictures on our own. The difference of the 35mm Film and DSLR is huge, and it would be nice if I can master both uses to.

So far, I usually take my camera everywhere I go. I take it as family gatherings, with my friends, special events, or just for an outing (parks, landscapes, etc). I do this because the fact of capturing a moment where you can't recreate or do again is just amazing. A moment where we can look back at the pictures and say "Hey! I remember this picture, I remember we use to do this when we were young." I have so much to say about my ethics on photography hehe..but what can I say, I'm still learning. As long as people enjoy what they are doing, its all good.
