Dario Romeo was born in Palermo, Italy, in 1980. He has been diving since the age of 6 and completedhis Junior Open Water certificate when he was 12 years old. At the age of 26 he became Dive Master and then became CMAS M2 Instructor and has also obtained the DIR (GUE Fundamental) certificate designed to improve buoyancy and develop professional photographic techniques. His passion for underwater photography and water sports has led him to, not only dive in seas all around the world, (including the Caribbean, the Celebes Sea, the Mediterranean, the South Pacific, the Atlantic, the Red Sea, the Baltic sea, the Andaman sea and the Cenotes) but also lead him to write his undergraduate thesis on the natural marine reserve of the Medas Islands in Spain, for which he carried out extensive research.
"I love to use my fisheye lens to have a wide visual angle whilst photographing marine mammals, such as manta rays and sharks. The digital equipment I prefer to use is Nikon, in particular D60, D70 and D90 models, together with a 10.5mm fisheye, 60 micro, 10-24mm, with Underwave underwater housing, Hugyfot and Ikelite 100/150 strobes. I also use GoPro HD on my underwater housing for filming."
