I had a really excellent time shooting with you the other day. Thank you so much for you and Jo making such a great day for me. When I got home, Liz and I were looking at your pictures and mine. There was no comparison. Liz said it best, “Roman’s pictures have a spiritual quality about them that your pictures don’t.” I agree. I really think I could identify your shots out of a bunch without knowing which ones were yours. They really do have something extra about them. Liz said I should ask you how you do it. I know that once you told me you were a technician, and not an artist, but clearly, this is not the case; you are both! I really appreciate your generosity, and the skills you have at teaching. I have learned most of what I know about photography from you, and actually, I doubt that I would have discovered how enjoyable photography truly is if I hadn’t met you. Thanks again, my friend.

Roman is not only one of the most talented photographers I've met on Flickr, he's also one of the most kind and generous. His photos speak for themselves, obviously, but what they don't show is his charitable and vivacious attitude towards life. He's always gone above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to helping others and offering gentle-handed advice. I consider myself lucky to know this guy!

Just one minute wandering through his photostream provides more testament than anything I could say; five minutes and you know he is a serious artist; ten minutes and you begin to get the measure of a man of rare vision, talent, and generosity. It was only last summer that I was introduced to Roman when he left his very first comment on one of my photos. Since then, knowing him through Flickr has been like getting reacquainted with an old friend. His comments are up front and personal, thoughtful and perceptive. I also enjoy his sly sense of humor. As a photographer, Roman is a keen observer, with a wonderful flair for composition, detail, lighting, and atmosphere. His post-production choices are inspired. The images that he produces are thoroughly realized works of photographic art. Through his pictures, we are treated to his vision of the hills in which he is lost. He is Merlin. Roman in a nutshell has an eye for the something old and turning it into a "new" old. A skillful photographer who will grab the chance when he can to capture a brilliant piece of history and placing his mark on it, and a most wonderful manner. He has this special touch and special way of warming an old debilitated building or a grabbing a part of wildlife, capturing it, owning it, and bringing to us in his own unique way. I have had the most blessed pleasure of shooting one day with Roman and his wife and look forward to doing it again. Neither Roman nor his wife are "lost in the hills". They are both at home there and give the hills in their area such a special feeling when you are there with them. A very warm, comfortable and homey feeling. Just take a look at his work.......each and every one of them carry a beat, a beat touched and created by Roman and am honored to know him and his wife and be called their friend..

Roman is the kind of guy who makes you feel like you have known him all your life. He is as generous with his words as he is with his considerable photographic talent... and in my book, that is the true measure of a man. It is my privilege to be able to count him as a friend. Like me, Roman likes to archive things close to home and heart and through his beautiful images I now feel like I know a bit more about his corner of the world, or at least where he has lost himself in the hills of Ohio.
