I shoot primarily Rolleiflex TLRs ( 75mm Tessar/75mm Planar/80mm 2.8 Xenotar)for the most part. Mamiya M645 Pro, Nikon F5, Rollei35 Rangefinder, and Contax G1. Been at this for nearly 50 years.

Ilford on occasion

TLR rules when it comes to fast quiet photography, and is simply the easiest camera in the world to use. It's like I was born with one in my hand. I don't use meters, just my eye/brain. Film speed only tells me how sensitive to light that particular "flavor" is. I set my DoF based on the range I want, focus, and simply change the shutter speed to comply with the light.

Recently finished exterior/interior shots in February 2024 of the 1929 Beaumont High School for BISD who requested documenting the campus before the beautiful (and expensive....$900,000 1929 dollars) building is no more. Which unfortunately demolition was begun June 2024. Spent the week of June 9th-15th on assignment photographing historic buildings for the city of Palestine TX. Including the famous train excursion from Palestine to Rusk and back.

Health issues have caused a drastic slow down in activity. Apologies for the extra long delays in approving admissions for inclusion to the various groups. Speaking of: If your photo(s) were not included it, it is because it did not pass "inspection". There is no automatic approval, each submission is personally inspected by me, and I maintain the same high quality level in all groups. There are NO do-overs nor appeals process. Also, a word of advice, if you shoot 5/10/100 (etc) images of the same subject do not submit all of them. Pick your best 1, perhaps 2 to submit.

Don't believe in digital cameras, but tolerate scanners as a necessary evil to bring images to the net.

If the lens isn't marked "Zeiss", then it isn't. But Mamiya glass is reverse engineered Zeiss and comes extremely close.

Last but not least: my inspirational thought for photographers always asking for "cheap high-quality______": There is NO SUCH THING as "cheap" and "high quality" when it comes to photography. The cheap becomes expensive once you have to re-do photos, and "high quality" is clearly defined as: Zeiss, Rolleiflex, Leica, Contax, Mamiya. Although I have seen some really terrible photos come from a Hassy 500CM.

¡ ¡ ¡ A Big Thank-You ! ! ! I am humbled by your kind words re my B&W photos. I want you to know that you words fuel my new found passion. Over the past 40 odd years I had not shot 5 rolls of B&W film until 2007 when my Agfa Billy 0 Zero arrived. The Billy 0 was produced from 1932 until 1937. Recently I discovered a Compur shutter Serial Number / Year of Manufacture which dates the shutter as a 1935. Due to it uncoated lens I purchased Efke 127 roll film. Luckily for me the results are good and my local lab has done a great job for me. Soon Billy’s big brother will arrive freshly CLAed by Jurgen@certo6.com. He did Billy and only hope it arrives as sharp as Billy. I enjoy having the option of a few focal lengths and a variety of formats. Billy’s Solinar lens impressed me so much I have purchased 2 more. Billy: Solinar, 1:3.9, 7.5cm; Record II: Solinar, 1:4.5, 10.5cm; Silette: Solinar, 1:2.8, 5cm … all set in Compur / Synchro-Compur shutters. Wish me continued luck and thanks again. Not so long ago, I would have said this guy is one of the last few traditional photographers left shooting film. But now, with all the support he is drumming up on flickr, he is truly one of the leaders of the growing film-legion. AND, he shoots Rolleiflex!!
