I got my first camera when I was 7 years old (a Brownie) and have been interested in photography ever since. Took classes in high school and college, and at one time had my own color darkroom.

When I got my first computer I spent all my time with it, and neglected the darkroom. I sold off all my film cameras and darkroom equipment. Then I got my first digital camera and both my passions were joined.

I was once asked by a passerby what I was photographing. I told him I'd take a picture of whatever presents itself. That about says it all.

Okay I have not done many of these before, and hope that I don't offend; but I truely believe that Roland,s pictures, especially the portraits of the wonderful people that he takes are truely inspirational, they always seem to have a style and look about them that are Roland, I have never in my life wanted to try and emulate what Roland does here with his portraits of people going about there everyday lives as much as I do now, hope its not copying a style, because I couldn't copy this one, it is on it's own and stands out for me, of that there is no doubt. I have never met Roland which is probably a great loss and I probably never will get this chance, as I would love to spend even a few hours with him when taking pictures and feel I could learn so much, he has often passed comments and offered help on various little things and it is for this reason that I feel that he is a great freind, hope you don't mind this Roland , but a really big thank you for the inspirational pictures/portraits that you do, I have had the good fortune on Flickr to meet lots of great people who have also fantastic pictures and this in no way is meant to belittle those people or pictures, but Roland , I thank you sir.
