I am originally from Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA. I now live in northeastern North Carolina, USA. I'm retired from the US Coast Guard and the US Navy.

 

Two of my hobbies are rocketry and kite flying. Combine the two nicknames "Rocket Man" and "Kiteman" and you get "RocKiteman". Sounds clunky, but nobody else was using it....

 

I've included my MySpace page for a website. I also go by the nickname "Coast Guard Kiteman", which is what I started my MS account as. I later changed it to "RocKITEman". However, the url stayed the same.

 

I'd like to thank "Flickr Dave" for my buddy icon picture. It's a cropped version of a picture he took. The original picture is - as of August 2006 - on his Flickr page. That 'partial arm' to my right in the picture belongs to Doug Haber. Flickr Dave is also in the original picture.

The titles of some of my photographs posted here [such as, "WRIGHT MEMORIAL 15 JUL 2007 SUN #067"] are how I label my photos on my PC @ home. It's 'clunky', but it helps me keep track of all my digital photos. I don't post ALL my photos on Flickr, and that's why the photo numbers you do see are usually not sequential. 'Nuff said.

 

Note: I edited [shortened] my 'screen name' from "RocKiteman_2001" to just "RocKiteman" on 09 July 2007 / Monday. I'm still the same guy - just a shorter screen name.

30 November 2014 // Sunday >>> I have not logged into Flickr much over the past several...months/years/decades/whatever. This morning I changed my "Singleness:" on my profile to "Single" from "Rather not say". My {completely amicable} divorce from my wife became 'official' on July 16th of this year. We were married in October of 1983.

 

Since there is no option for "Divorced", what I chose will have to do. 'Nuff said....

19 February 2023 // Sunday {PM} >>> FWIW, I am 'still ground'. I have not logged onto the platform for quite a while. I hope everyone is at least SURVIVING, if not THRIVING...👍

 

One other thing: I just changed my 'display name' to "Allan {a.k.a. RocKITEman}." I have been using that on a couple of other social media platforms I am on, and while I am logged in to Flickr -- AND ACTUALLY THINKING ABOUT IT CHANGING IT -- I changed to that. My display name was previously just "RocKITEman." {Allan is my real first name.}
